WHY IT MATTERS
Every day, elderly parents and remarkable individuals pass away taking with them decades of untold stories, wisdom, humour and history that can never be recovered. Your voice, captured on film, is the one piece of history your grandchildren can't find in a book.
OUR MISSION
Everyone has a story.
Some are known. Some have never been told.
We capture it with care, and keep it safe - so no story is ever lost.
Every frame is real
We never use AI-generated images, video or voices. Every film is made from real footage, real photographs and the person's own voice.
About
Watch video
Legacy Films is a division of Furnace Media - the award-winning and ACS accredited film and television production company founded by Paul Swain ACS and Kim Weber - applying several decades of broadcast-quality production experience along with formal counsellor training to an entirely new category: legacy and memorial filmmaking.
What sets us apart is not just the cinematic quality of our productions, but the empathetic, guided storytelling process that draws out authentic family history in a way no standard videography service can replicate.
Clients receive a film they will treasure, share and keep for the rest of their lives and for future generations.
Our Process
Every step is guided by a producer with formal counsellor training - so the experience is as calm and dignified as the film itself.
Discovery Call•Follow-Up Meeting•Proposal•Agreement
We begin with a free, no-obligation chat about your story, followed by an in-depth meeting to scope the details for your quote. You'll receive a tailored proposal within 48 hours, and once you're happy, we confirm everything in writing with a 50% deposit to secure your booking.
Research•Script & Storyline
We gather archival photos, footage and family memories, then shape your loved one's story into a heartfelt narrative — with a draft shared for your approval before filming begins.
Filming•Post-Production & Review•Delivery & Follow-Up
Filming takes place wherever feels most meaningful, guided by the Legacy Film team. Your film is then edited, scored and colour graded, shared with you for feedback, and finally delivered.
Films & Pricing
Full sample films are shared privately during your complimentary discovery call.
Every film starts with a phone call, initial consultation and is quoted to cater to your specific requests and timeline.

FAQ
Straight answers to the practical, emotional and financial questions that come up when families first consider a legacy film.
This is not home video. You are working with an award-winning, ACS-accredited film and television production team - the same craft behind broadcast TVCs, documentaries and corporate films - combined with a producer who has formal counsellor training. That dual expertise means the final film is cinematic, but the process is gentle, structured and emotionally safe.
Most people find it rewarding, not distressing. Our guided interview approach is built around dignity, patience and consent. We meet people where they are - literally and emotionally - and never push a question or moment that does not feel right. Many families are surprised by how much laughter and pride surface along the way.
Legacy films are for anyone who wants a life story preserved with care: parents and grandparents, people facing a terminal diagnosis, families before a big milestone, or relatives we simply do not want to forget. The right time is whenever the story is still able to be told - earlier almost always gives a richer, more relaxed result.
A phone captures a moment; a legacy film preserves a life story. We bring professional lighting, sound, editing, archival integration, licensed music and colour grading - but the real difference is the interview. We ask the questions most families never think to ask, and shape the answers into a coherent, watchable film your family will return to for generations.
We have filmed in living rooms, hospitals, aged-care rooms and back gardens across Sydney, Brisbane and regional locations. Sessions can be short, broken into multiple visits, or conducted via professional remote recording when travel is not possible. We adapt to energy levels, mobility and comfort - the story matters more than the setting.
Every story is treated with the utmost discretion. We do not share footage, interviews or final films with anyone outside the agreed family group without explicit written consent. Our team works to broadcast industry standards, and we are happy to sign confidentiality agreements or accommodate specific privacy requirements from families, healthcare providers or facilities.
No. Every image, frame and voice in a Legacy Films production is real. We film the person, we use your own photographs and home video, and we license real music. We do not generate people, places or voices with AI, and we would never recreate a person's face or voice synthetically.
You receive the film as a digital master via a private streaming link, with optional USB archive or hard copy on request. The film belongs to you and your family - we do not publish it publicly or retain distribution rights. Masters are stored securely for a limited backup period, and you are free to share, download and keep copies however works best for your family.
Yes, Our usual payment terms are a 50% deposit to confirm the commencement of the film process with the final payment due prior to the release of the final approved digital hi-resolution film. We can also offer alternative payment plans to accommodate the family.
